Special Notice: We were forwarded an e-mail from one of the associate producers of the Dr. Oz Show which stated that the episode with Carcinoid should air on Thursday, January 5, 2012. There is always the slight possibility the date can be changed.
The episode is going to feature stomach cancer and is titled “How much do you know about stomach cancer”. It includes a stomach Carcinoid patient (Lisa from New Jersey) in the episode. If you go to the Dr Oz Show website, http://www.doctoroz.com/, you can see the list of episodes upcoming for that week. The website can also tell you what station and times the show will run the show in your area.
For the NY/NJ metropolitan area, the show is on Fox, channel 5. For the Southern NJ/PA area, Fox channel 29. Scheduled time for both these stations is 4PM ET. Check your local listings to confirm your local time and network.
Our special thanks to Lisa for the time she spent working with the Dr. Oz production crew to portray hr story.
Thanks to the efforts of Michael L., New jersey Governor Chris Christie has declared November as Neuroendocrine and Carcinoid Cancer Month. Click here to see a copy of the proclamation.
The New Jersey Carcinoid Cancer NETwork has been serving the NJ community since 2001, when we started as the NJ Chapter of the Metro New York Carcinoid Support Group. When the metro group was formed, it was thought that because Carcinoid and other Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs) were so rare, it would require a large geographic area to create a comprehensive group. With the advent of the increased awareness, in part due to support groups, we are now able to provide a more localized group to better serve everyone.
We hold in person meetings most months. Click here more details of those meetings.
Browse our Web site for more information about NJ Carcinoid Cancer NETwork. Please note that the website is a work in progress, so plan to check back for newly added material. If you have any questions or would like to speak with a NJ Carcinoid Cancer NETwork representative, please e-mail Jim at caring4noids@aol.com or call Jim at 609-812-9294; or e-mail Judy at mjmkgo@aol.com or call Judy at 201-891-2259
Our mission is to promote awareness of Carcinoid and other Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs) and to provide shared information to patients, caregivers and medical professionals to assist them in managing their disease, provide treatment and diagnostic options that may not be common knowledge.
